Ingredients
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 tablespoon grated processed cheese
- 100 grams bread crumbs
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- ½ teaspoon ginger garlic paste
- Salt as required
- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1 potato
- 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 pinch chaat masala
Recipe
Step 1
Boil the potato in a deep utensil or in a pressure cooker. Once boiled, peel it and keep it aside to cool down. Finely chop onion and keep it in a bowl.
Step 2
Place a saucepan on a medium flame and add water in it along with salt and let the water boil. Wash and clean the broccoli florets and strain them. Add the broccoli florets to the boiling water and let them boil for 2-3 minutes. Do not overcook broccoli. Turn off the flame and remove the excess water. Let the broccoli florets dry a little and then shred them in a food processor.
Step 3
Mash the boiled potato and add it to a large bowl. Add shredded broccoli. Add grated cheese. Add the rest of the ingredients – red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste, salt, garam masala, chaat masala, coriander leaves and bread crumbs and mix everything properly. You can buy ginger garlic paste online to make this recipe supremely flavorful. If you find that the mixture is not thick enough, you can add more bread crumbs to it.
Note : If you do not have bread crumbs, you can use some flour for binding the tikki.
Divide the broccoli mixture in equal parts and create the shape of a tikki.
Step 4
Place a pan on a medium flame and add some oil to it. If you want less oil in your tikki then use the kitchen brush to brush the pan with very little oil. Place 3-4 tikkis in the pan depending upon the size of the pan and shallow fry them until they are golden brown in colour. Flip the tikkis and cook them on the other side as well. Place the tikkis in a serving tray when they are ready and serve them along with your favorite schezwan chutney, ketchup or dip.
